Medico suicide: Kozhikode police look for clues on Facebook

KOZHIKODE: The police is examining recent phone calls MBBS student Ooshmal Ullas, who jumped to death on Wednesday, received and her Facebook posts on a page of the college where she studied that indicated cyberbullying. A fourth-year MBBS student of KMCT Medical College, Mukkom, she died after her fall from the fourth floor of the college building. She had suffered fractures in both legs and spine and was admitted to the intensive care unit there. Her body was taken to her house in Thrissur after a post-mortem at Government Medical College, Kozhikode.
Police said according to her friends, she was frustrated after a phone call and left the room in anger and returned without the phone and again left, taking her wallet. Koduvally CI Vishwas N., who is probing the case, said till now there was nothing suspicious about the college or officials. “The girl used to write a diary, though irregularly. No suicide note was found. We have given requests for the call details from the operator, and her Facebook posts and comments are being checked,” said the CI. They are yet to recover her phone.
