Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will again convene a high-level meeting to discuss the Kurinji garden issues in the first week of January. The meeting will be attended by the members of the cabinet sub-committee comprising  revenue minister E. Chandrasekharan, forest minister K. Raju and electricity minister M.M Mani and officials who have  visited Munnar and Kottakamboor.

Further action to protect the gardens will be taken at the meeting.  Mr Chandrasekharan has already held discussions with the CM on the matter in the last few days. The local people have agreed to cooperate with the survey after they were assured that none of the settlers would be evicted. Earlier, a ministerial team had visited Munnar to study the land-related problems, including the allegations of encroachments by  Idukki MP Joyce George at  Kottakamboor.   A 10-member team led by opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala will go to Munnar  on December 18 and visit Kottakamboor and Vattavada the  next day.
