128th convocation of Dharmagiri Veda Vignana Peetham held at Tirumala
TIRUPATI: The 128th convocation ceremony of the 138-year-old Veda Vignana Peetham was held on Friday at Dharmagiri Hills in Tirumala. Both the seers of Tirumala attended the convocation and gave out certificates to 113 vedic students.
In his Anugraha Bhashanam on the occasion, Pedda Jeeyar Swamy of Tirumala recalled that he was also a student from this institution in 1960 and later worked as a faculty, and now, with the blessings of Lord Venkateswara Swamy, had become the Pedda Jeeyar of Tirumala. He complimented the TTD management for taking Vedic knowledge forward in a big way for the sake of future generations.
Rendering his blessings to vedic students, Chinna Jeeyar Swamy of Tirumala said that the Dharmagiri Veda Vignana Peetham was the oldest Vedic institution in South India. “The students who studied here have now settled in various temples across the country as well as overseas. Since you are all now degree holders, you should develop Vedic education and spread Vedic knowledge,” he asserted.
Earlier, the principal of Veda Vignana Peetham, K.S.S. Avadhani, briefed about the history of the vedic institution. “At present, there are 17 courses with over 500 students studying at the institution. Due to the pandemic, we haven’t organised the convocation in the last two years. Today we are giving out certificates to 113 students, which includes both 2019-20 and 2020-21 academic years” he maintained.
