Hyderabad: A 62-year-old man died after being bitten by a poisonous snake while trying to save kids from it in Chatrinaka Colony on Friday.
The elderly man, Mohamed Abdul Majid, was sleeping in the front room of his relatives’ house on Friday. At around 4.45 pm, he got up when he heard children shouting in the lane as a big black-coloured snake had entered the bushes, Chatrinaka police said.
Majid asked the kids to vacate the lane and entered the bushes. He tried to catch the snake with the help of the stick, but the snake bite bit him on his leg. Majid was not wearing any footwear.
Majid was taken to the Osmania General Hospital. He died while undergoing treatment the same night.
Majid, a private employee, resident of Sikh Chowni, had come to meet his relatives after offering Friday prayers. He was ill and fell asleep on the sofa.
Police alerted a snake catcher, registered a case and shifted the victim's body to the OGH mortuary for post-mortem.
