Nellore gets state-of-the-art fishing jetty
Tirupati: Nellore's Muthukur mandal witnessed a significant step towards a brighter future for its fishing community on Sunday as agriculture minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy broke ground for a modern fishing jetty.
Fulfilling Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy's poll pledge, the Rs 25 crore project aims to empower nearly 2,000 fishermen by enabling safe anchoring for 400 boats and boosting operational efficiency.
"This jetty symbolises the CM's commitment to fishermen's welfare," stated Kakani, highlighting ongoing state initiatives like Rs 10,000 aid during fishing bans and increased compensation of Rs 10 lakh for families of deceased fishermen.
Further strengthening this commitment, Kakani also inaugurated a Rs 50 lakh modernized fish market to provide fishermen with better selling avenues.
