Secunderabad Club only needs restoration, says its president
Preliminary investigations by fire officials revealed that the fire might have been caused by short-circuit
Hyderabad: Secunderabad Club president R. Raghuram Reddy on Monday said that around one-third of the main club house was gutted in Sunday’s inferno. A major portion of the club house was intact as the steel pillars and the roof were sturdy and safe, he added.
The club has suffered a tentative damage of Rs 25 crore. Preliminary investigations by fire officials revealed that the fire might have been caused by short-circuit.
“Fortunately, all data and documents, which are digitized, are safe,” the club authorities said in a notice, while seeking the cooperation of every member.
Reddy said “It looks like we will go for restoration as there is no need for reconstruction.”
The notice mentions that “The damaged areas include the colonnade bar, billiards room, ball room, main reception and the staircase leading to the first floor.”
The club management informed its members that the club would remain closed until further notice.
