Court dismisses case against Y.S. Konda Reddy
ANANTAPUR: Lakkireddipalli Junior Civil Judge Court on Friday dismissed a case against Y.S. Konda Reddy, YSRC in-charge of Chakrayapet mandal and relative of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, for allegedly threatening a construction company and demanding money from it.
Before dismissing the case, the court observed that the prosecution had failed in proving the charges against Konda Reddy.
The company, SRK Constructions, had been implementing road works between Pulivendula and Rayachoti passing through Chakrayipet mandal last year. It is alleged that the YSRC leader threatened the management of the construction company over phone several times. He demanded a bribe of ₹5 crore for letting the works continue in his mandal.
It is stated Konda Reddy also used his close aides to obstruct the work being undertaken by the construction company, which is reportedly owned by a relative of a BJP leader from Karnataka.
Chakrayapet police registered a case against Konda Reddy on May 9 last year. He had been arrested and sent to judicial custody. Later, police prohibited him from being in the district.
