HYDERABAD: Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuiyan of the Telangana High Court on Friday stayed criminal proceedings against BJP MP Arvind Dharmapuri while dealing with a petition that he had filed.
The petitioner sought the quashing of a criminal case lodged against him under Sections 504 and 505 of IPC. He is also charged under Sec 67 of the IT Act.
Senior counsel Rachana Reddy, appearing for the petitioner, argued that the MP’s FB posts did not constitute any of the offences. He is alleged to have said that the state government had kept liquor shops and bars open during the Omicron wave when people were to maintain social distance.
