Kerala: T P Sreenivasan's statement recorded
The Lok Ayukta would be soon taking the statement of the police officials involved in the incident.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Lok Ayukta on Friday recorded the statement of former diplomat T. P. Sreenivasan in connection with the police lapse during the attack on him by SFI activists at Kovalam here last year. Mr Sreenivasan gave a detailed statement regarding the ordeal he faced on January 29 last year, including the inaction on the police. SFI activists, in an attempt to prevent him from attending the global education summit organmised by the state government, allegedly slapped Mr. Sreenivasan, who was the vice-chairman of the Kerala State Higher Education Council. Counsels for the police personnel later cross examined Sreenivasan.
The Lok Ayukta would be soon taking the statement of the police officials involved in the incident. Two sub-inspectors and three police constables were found responsible for their inaction in preventing the attack and the Upa Lok Ayukta had suo motu initiated a case. There was also lack of initiative from the cops to nab the accused on the spot. The five cops were sent for a compulsory training by then state police chief T.P. Senkumar.
