BENGALURU: The newly inaugurated Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway passing through Sanghabasavanadoddi village of Ramanagara was flooded in the light rainfall that the region saw on Friday evening even as the waterlogging slowed down the traffic movement.

The Expressway was waterlogged till Saturday afternoon and the flooded water was let out after officials concerned dug up a drain nearby.

The waterlogging of the Expressway resulted in an accident involving a stationed truck and a car. It is said that the truck was stationed after it had some problems and a speeding car collided with the parked truck and the car was damaged but the passengers were unhurt.

It is alleged that phone calls were made to National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to attend to the complaints but none of them attended to it.

It may be recalled there that Union Minister for Roads and Highways Nitin Gadkari during his inspection of the Expressway had assured to give directions to the NHAI officials for construction of drainage with precast technology and had attributed waterlogging of the Expressway to imperfect ‘gradient.’

Reacting to the waterlogging on the Expressway, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that minor complaints would be attended to.
