Hyderabad: Ten injured in group clash

The verbal duel between the man, whom police identified as John, and seven catering workers, led to a riot-like situation in the area.

Hyderabad: Ten people, including two women, were injured when a fight broke out between two groups at Chikkadpally on Sunday night. The clash broke out when a drunk stopped a vehicle and started an argument with a group of youths. The verbal spat between the man, whom police identified as John, and seven catering workers, led to a riot-like situation in the area. A large police force from central zone had to come to the spot to control the situation.

Central zone DCP D. Joel Davis said a group of youths from Chilkalguda were going around in a van near Sundairaha Vignana Kendra at night. “John, who was drunk, stopped their vehicle alleging they were driving rashly and started an argument. He also attacked them and the youngsters called their elders. When the elders came to the spot, the issue got heated up and it turned into a fight with John’s people joining in,” said the DCP.

“A family function was going on in the area and John was attending it. People who were at the function came out with iron objects and attacked the other party. People from both sides were injured,” said the DCP.   Later, police booked cases against both parties. Ten people were arrested. in connection with the case.
