Nagarkurnool: Deer found injured in forest near Ambagiri, reason not clear
It is not common for a spotted deer to get injured as they generally live in the interiors.
Hyderabad: A spotted deer was found injured in the hind legs in the forest near Ambagiri in Nagarkurnool district on Monday. Locals took the deer to a veterinarian for treatment.
It was not clear how the deer sustained the injury. Vets will observe the deer on Tuesday for progress of its treatment, even as investigations will begin to find out just how it got injured.
A senior official from the forest department said, “The area is prone to poaching. Besides, when the animals go in search of water, they are sometimes attacked by stray dogs. Tomorrow we are going observe the wound and only then we will be able to find out the reason for the injury.”
He said it was not common for a spotted deer to get injured as they generally live in the interiors. He said the first plan was to take the deer to the Hyderabad zoo for treatment. But animals are very sensitive and the deer was in shock and the plan was put on hold, the official said.
