Kottayam: Even after ten days since they went missing, the police were not able to find the couples, Hashim, 42, and Habeeba, 37, of Arupara near Kumarakom. They disappeared April 6 night after going out for buying food from a hotel in the town. Police sources say they have no clue so far. They are now verifying the CCTV footage to trace them. “We are checking places including pilgrim centres inside and outside the state,” West CI Nirmal Bose told DC.

They have formed a separate team and conducted extensive searches including in the water bodies. The couple went out in a grey Maruti Wagon R car around 9 pm. But the investigation found they reached no hotel in town. Sources said the couple was under mental pressure over some issues. Their two children, Fathima, 13, and Bilal, 9, and Hashim’s father Abdul Khader were at home when they went outside without mobile phones, driving licenses and the ATM cards. Hashim was running a provision shop nearby. The Kumarakom police received a petition the next morning.
