THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) is bringing out a mobile app for the public to pass on information regarding corruption. The project has been initiated by new Vigilance Director Jacob Thomas as part of his creative vigilance strategy.
The proposed mobile app for interactive and participatory anti-corruption programme would be integrated to social media and other communication platforms, enabling the public to report corruption to the VACB. The Vigilance director has invited tenders from private software firms for developing and running the mobile app.
The VACB also plans interactive anti-corruption programmes though the print and visual media. It may be recalled that Mr. Thomas, during his earlier term in the VACB, had initiated the launching of Vigilant Kerala, an online portal aimed at curbing corruption at the grass root level through public intervention. However, the project did not make much impact after Mr. Thomas was shifted from the VACB.
