Kerala: Law college's plan for evening course rejected
State passed the order in September 6, 2016.
Kochi: The state government has made it clear that it will not allow any self-financing courses in government colleges in the state. The state rejected Ernakulam Law College Principal’s proposal seeking permission to start a three year self-financing LLB evening course at the college. Earlier, the High Court had directed state to consider the application filed by principal, Ernakulam Law College. The principal of Government Law College, Ernakulam had forwarded a proposal for starting an additional batch of three year LLB course in self-financing mode with an intake of 60 students for permanent employees of government, quasi-government and private concerns in the academic year 2016-17.
The HC disposed a petition directing government to take appropriate decision as soon as possible, so as to enable the college to start the course in the current academic year itself. Government had examined the proposal in detail in the light of the judgement dated June 29, 2016 and found that there were no courses under self-financing mode and none need to be considered as it is against its policy. Sreekuttan A.V. and a few others had filed a plea seeking the state to grant provisional sanction for starting an additional batch of three year LLB. State passed the order in September 6, 2016.
