Hyderabad: 21 new units for child protection
The results are expected to be out by the end of the week after which interviews will be held by the first week of July.
Hyderabad: The state government will set up child protection units in all 31 districts to implement child rights and prevent abuse of children.
Currently, these units are located in 10 districts. Work has been taken up to cover the remaining 21 districts.
Mr Venkat Swamy, state programme dire-ctor of the Integrated Child Protection Sche-me, said, “We have started recruitment for personnel for these units. The test was conducted by Nalsar university. it contained questions from the disciplines of sociology, psychology and laws covering child labour, child marriage, POS-CO Act and others.”
Many practical examples were also mentioned to test the knowledge of the candidates, he said.
The results are expected to be out by the end of the week after which interviews will be held by the first week of July. The child welfare department hopes to have the units up and running by July 15.
District child protection unit officer Imtiaz Ali said, “With more units, there will be better coordination between districts, the labour and health department which is the aim. We will bridge the gap between all districts and can address more complaints.” With over 500 child care institutions running, rehabilitation facilities will also be strengthened, he said.
