The state government has introduced a Regional Cluster Groups system for different regions of the state
ANANTAPUR: The Regional Cluster Group of Universities has been formed with involvement of Central University, JNTUA and the SK Universities of Anantapur to improve the quality of academic pursuits by use of local resources.
As part of the ongoing process of reforms in the education system, the state government has introduced a Regional Cluster Groups system for different regions of the state with the lead role being played by vice chancellors of universities in the respective regions.
As part of efforts at improving the quality of higher education in the state, the government recently envisioned the Andhra Pradesh Higher Education Planning Board (APHEPB) with all the vice chancellors / directors of state universities and central institutions in the state.
The AP Central University, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University and Sri Krishnadevaraya University have been grouped into the cluster group for Anantapur region. This is to ascertain and catch up with the trends in higher education nationally and globally and initiate policy measures for APHEPB to plug the gaps and offer qualitative support to the universities and higher educational institutions.
“The APHEPB envisages promotion of inter-institutional research projects and attempts to build and strengthen inter-institutional relations particularly between state and central universities. It also envisages sharing of best practices in the higher education system and facilitating industry-academia interface to bridge the gap between industry expectations and the skills imparted by institutions,” JNTUA vice chancellor Prof G. Ranga Janardhana said.
“Emphasis is given in organizing capacity building programmes for faculty members and administrative leaders. The aim is for inculcating a culture of togetherness and developing an ecosystem of harmonious relationships between the institutions by sharing the facilities, faculty exchange, credits transfer, competitions in co-curricular and extracurricular activities,” the team of vice chancellors Prof SA Kori of AP Central University, Prof Ramakrishna Reddy of SK University and Prof Ranga JAranardhan of JNTUA observed.
