KAKINADA: Jana Sena chief and film star Pawan Kalyan on Saturday underlined that though Kakinada has vast sea shore, ports and many resources, it has not seen development, as people of the city have elected corrupt leaders to their legislative bodies.

The JS chief stated this while interacting with intellectuals and citizens as part of his Varahi Yatra and Jana Vani in Kakinada on Saturday. He assured that Jana Sena will bring honesty, integrity, accountability, transparency, stability and development in Kakinada.

The participants in the meeting told Pawan Kalyan that though Kakinada has been declared as Smart City, necessary infrastructure has not been developed. Many colonies lack basic amenities. They said leaders are looting sand in the twin Godavari districts worth ₹30 crores every month.

In the Jana Vani programme that the JS chief conducted, a pensioner M. Srinivas said he was getting a pension of ₹75. This got cancelled on the pretext of his house consuming more than 200 units of power.

A farmer Gollapalli Nageswara Rao said the government is trying to forcibly acquire 295 acres of land at Thammavaram village in the name of industrialisation.

A retired employee said he has not received his retirement benefits even though he retired two years ago.

Nearly 50 persons participated in the Jana Vani programme. They wished that Pawan Kalyan becomes the Chief Minister of AP.
