Four go missing as boat capsizes at Banasura dam

The search was stopped by 5 p.m and the Navy team will continue the operations on Tuesday.

WAYANAD: Four people who went for fishing  in the Banasura Sagar dam catchment area around 11.45 on Sunday night have been missing after their makeshift boat capsized. Three others who were with them swam to safety. The missing were identified as Sachin Nellippoyil, 20, Binu Molekkunnil, 42, Melvin Manithotti, 34, all hailing from Chembukkadav, near Thusharagiri in Kozhikode, and Wilson Padinjarekkuzhiyil from Wayanad.

Joby Chittilappilli, Thusharagiri, Joby Koorathode and Mithun Chembukkudy, survived. Wilson was rowing the boat (two boats made of leaf tied together). The local people, fire force and forest officials searched  the area after the accident came to light on Monday morning, but the bodies could not be found.  The search was  stopped by 5 p.m. and the Navy team will  continue the operations on Tuesday.
