HYDERABAD: The Miryalguda police of Nalgonda have taken serious note of people allegedly collecting ‘mamool (extortion amount)’ from the public.

They warned to open history sheets against them after 46 persons were produced to the revenue department over forcible money collection.

Miryalaguda I Town police inspector P. Raghavender said he counselled 46 persons at the police station for indulging in illegal activities. “A few days ago, two groups had a clash and came to the police station to lodge a complaint. They again clashed inside police station premises and created a nuisance,” he said.

A video of the inspector warning the people also went viral on social media. “We will not hesitate to open a history sheet against anyone for indulging in illegal activities,” the inspector is heard saying.

Further, the inspector warned people against creating a nuisance in public places, saying they will be penalised, as per the law, if they fail to comply. He also told them not to disrupt functions by demanding more money from business establishment owners.

“We will keep a vigil on the regular activities of such people. People can be reached if they are faced with issues,” Raghavender said.
