Secunderabad: Woman falls on metro tracks, rescued

Metro Rail Phase II will have elevated, grade-level, and underground tracks, as opposed to Metro Rail Phase I, which is an elevated line.  Hyderabad: A woman passenger, waiting for a Metro train at Platform No.1 of the Secunderabad East station, fell on the tracks after feeling giddy around 10 am on Monday. However, she was safely rescued.

Upon noticing the woman falling, the station staff hit the platform emergency stop button to halt the incoming train and rescued the passenger. After informing her parents, the staff rushed her to a nearby hospital in Secunderabad in an ambulance. She received a minor bruise on her forehead.

Sources said that the entire incident took place within eight minutes and that the woman was in her 20s. They praised the Metro staff for their presence of mind and said that an incoming train could have proved fatal to the woman. They said that passengers stand close to the tracks as they anxiously wait for the train to arrive during rush hour.
