Grand start to CBSE State Youth Festival
Stray dog menace and demonetisation crisis enter stage on Day 1.
ADIMALI: The vibrant campus of Viswadeepthi CMI Public School rose to the hustle and bustle of young artistes on Thursday morning with the start of the second CBSE State Youth Festival on 21 stages. The creativity and talent were evident from the beginning itself in different events. In the one act plays students depicted the 'realities' faced by their elder techie generation and also the crude experiences of the Indian diaspora in the Gulf. The troubles faced by the working parents of differently -abled children and also the sufferings of these children were dealt with aplomb by one team.
For the cartoon segment high school section, the organisers aptly brought the issue of stray dog menace which captured the imagination of the students who identified themselves as one of the major victims of the menace. They had the potential to link it to the present currency crisis as well. The events staged on Thursday were Duffmuttu, one act play, western music, Bharatanatyam, folk dance, Mohiniyattom, elocution Malayalam and English, recitation English, versification Malayalam, English and Hindi, story telling Malayalam, English and Hindi, pencil drawing, painting water colour, cartoon, painting oil colour, painting crayon, essay Malayalam and English, poster designing, collage, power point presentation and digital painting.
Most of the events started and finished as per schedule and hence results could be released without much delay. One act play, western music and Bharatanatyam extended as there were a large number of participants. In both western music and Bharatanatyam also there was tough competition. Elaborate arrangements were made to serve food for the participants and those who accompanied them. The hilly environs lent a soothing effect to the participants and others.
Thrissur Sahodaya in lead
Thrissur Sahodaya is leading with 40 points when the results of seven competitions were announced. Kottayam Sahodaya is in second position with 24 points and Vanchinad, Venad and Vidhya Sahodayas are in the third position with 20 points each.
