Thiruvananthapuram: Muslim League all-India general secretary E T Mohammed Basheer told reporters that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who advocated economic reservation in all Government jobs through a Constitution amendment, was trying to subserve BJP’s interests. He said job reservation was not poverty eradication, rather it aimed to ensure social justice.  The State Government decision strengthened the Centre’s stand to end reservations altogether.

The League would support the Government if it sought to check corruption in Wakf Board but would oppose the move to entrust PSC with recruitment to Wakf, where jobs are restricted to Muslims.  The Government was unnecessarily meddling in reservations and Wakf, said Mr Basheer.
