Blankets distributed among tribals to mark Birsa Munda birth anniversary
Warangal: Mulugu police distributed over 2000 blankets among members of the Gutti Koya tribal communities here in the district on Thursday under a programme to mark commemoration of the birth anniversary of the tribal leader Birsa Munda.
The programme aimed at helping the tribals in the Agency area to face the winted cold was led by SP Sangramsingh Patil.
For the past one week, the Mulugu police took up several tribal welfare programmes marking the birth anniversary celebrations of the tribal leader. Police conducted two free medical health camps at a function hall in the town and at another camp in Eturnagaram. About 3,500 tribals attended these camps, police claimed.
Lab tests were conducted for the tribal people and those diagnosed with minor health complications were given medicines free of cost. Those suffering from major health problems were guided to visit the government hospitals for treatment.
Many tribal welfare programmes will be taken up by the district police in coming days as part of the friendly policing concept and to maintain cordial relations with the people in the agency areas, the SP said.
