Vijayawada: YSRC senior leader and former minister Dokka Manikya Varaprasad Rao underlined that the decision by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to give full rights over assigned lands to their beneficiaries will forever remain in history.

In this regard, he said no one dared to resurvey lands in Andhra Pradesh. But the CM dared and resurveyed the lands after a gap of 100 years, thereby resolving long-pending issues.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Varaprasad Rao pointed out that for more than 20 years, poor beneficiaries of assigned lands did not have full rights over their lands. But Jagan Mohan Reddy’s historic decision to bestow complete rights on the 15.21 lakh poor farmers will give them all rights over 22.42 lakh acres in AP state.

“This is the first of its ‘kind’ act,” he remarked.

The senior YSRC leader said the 53 months’ old rule of the Chief Minister will also enter the history books for the unprecedented development and welfare, which poor have never witnessed. He went on to thank the CM on behalf of the poor, SCs, STs, BCs and minorities.

Varaprasad Rao explained that out of total 17,460 revenue villages in the state, land survey has been successfully completed in 4,000 villages in the first two phases, covering 42,60,000 acres of land.

He appreciated that joint collectors, revenue officers, tahsildars and survey settlement officers had sat down and settled the boundary disputes involving thousands of acres of land. He said this has reduced pendency of cases in courts by thousands.
