Srivaru Gifts Rs.2.5 Crore Jewellery to Consort Padmavathi Devi on Birthday
Anantapur: Tirumala Sri Venkateswara Swamy presented ornaments worth Rs.2.5 crore and a saree to His Consort Goddess Padmavathi Devi on Saturday, the auspicious day of Panchami Theertham, which is the Janma Tithi or birthday of the Goddess.
The ornaments included Yajnopaveetham and Lakshmi Kasulamala, both weighing five kg. Other gifts included perfumes, sandalwood powder, Tulasi, Kasturi and Karpooram, besides five varieties of Prasadams – Laddu, Vada, Jilebi, Tendolam and Appam.
Lord Venkateswara’s gifts to Goddess Sri Padmavathi Devi were carried on top of the temple elephant in a procession from Tirumala during the early hours of Saturday. Passing through the Mada streets, the procession reached Alipiri.
At Alipiri, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams chairman Bhumana Karunakara Reddy and executive officer (EO) A.V. Dharma Reddy handed over the saree to JEO Veerabrahmam, who carried it to the Pasupu Mandapam in Tiruchanoor. After special pujas, the gifts were taken along Mada streets and presented to Goddess Padmavati at Padma Pushkarani.
Speaking to media on the occasion, the TTD chairman said the devasthanam has made all arrangements for the holy bath by lakhs of devotees in the Padma Sarovar.
Temple deputy EO Govindarajan, other officials and a large number of devotees were present in the religious event.
