BJP councillors allege neglect by Thiruvananthapuram corporation
Mr Sreekumar countered the argument saying that the BJP was covering up the inefficiency of their councillor.
Thiruvananthapuram: A heated war of words happened at the city corporation council on Saturday after the BJP councillors alleged step-motherly treatment to projects they submitted. A crater appeared on the road beside Parvathi Puthanar that lead to Karikkakom Temple and fencing the river bank was the point of debate. As per Karikkakom councillor Hima Siji, she had submitted a proposal to fence certain points in November as vehicles had fallen into the waters killing children travelling in a school bus in the past.
She was directed by the mayor’s office to approach minor irrigation. Few days after this, CPM councillor K. Sreekumar of nearby Pettah submitted the same proposal, which was taken up by the corporation and okayed the construction. Mr Sreekumar countered the argument saying that the BJP was covering up the inefficiency of their councillor. “The railway was doing maintenance work around the area, and this seemed to be a right time to begin a fencing work as roads will be closed. Ms Siji had not done anything about it,” he said.
