Three students rescued at Surya Lanka Beach

 Vijayawada: Bapatla district police saved three students from drowning at Surya Lanka Beach on Monday. District SP Vakul Jindal said that strict security measures have been taken at the Surya Lanka beach for the protection of pilgrims. The SP said 10 students pursuing CA course at a Guntur college came to Surya Lanka Beach for vacation on Monday morning. Among them M. Dhanush,18, B. Shirisha, 18, and N. Saketh,20, accidentally got caught in a whirlwind and drowned in the sea. The outpost police personnel and trained swimmers responded immediately and pulled the three students to shore and provided first aid. District SP appreciated head constable A. Poturaju, home guard Narasimha Murthy, Marine home guard Venkata Narayana, swimmers Ajay, Suresh, Gopi and Ramakrishna.

SP Vakul Jindal said that strong measures have been taken to protect the pilgrims coming to Surya Lanka Beach. A large number of police personnel and well trained swimmers have been posted along the sea coast. Red flags have been set up at certain depths in the sea. No one should go deep beyond them, the SP said. The SP warned of strict legal action against those venturing into the sea after consuming alcohol ignoring police warnings.
