Rajeev Chandrasekhar's resort encroached land, says government
The affidavit has pleaded that eviction notice served on the company to vacate the encroached land should not be annulled.
KOCHI: The Niramya Resort at Kumarakom promoted by Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Rajya Sabha MP and NDA vice-chairman in Kerala, was involved in encroaching revenue land, the state government has informed the High Court. In an affidavit submitted in the HC by Kottyam Tahasildar, it was stated that the revenue records of half an acre of backwaters were found destroyed while 1.25 cents has been found encroached.
The affidavit has pleaded that eviction notice served on the company to vacate the encroached land should not be annulled. The affidavit stated that the authenticity of the copy of the 1997 order of the collector assigning the backwaters to private persons was suspect. A detailed probe has to be held in the matter to verify the authenticity of the said document.
"The existence of alleged order NO C3-44192/96 dated 06-02-1997 issued by the district collector, Kottayam, mentioned in exhibit p24 based on which the whole claim is put forward by the writ petitioner is doubtful. Only a proper investigation will reveal how the Kayal Property in Block No 11 turned out to be a private property and in what circumstance, the documents have been destroyed at the office of the deputy director of the survey", the affidavit said.
