Tax cops issue summons to actress Rashmika

Bengaluru: Te Income Tax Department has issued a notice to actress Rashmika Mandanna and her family members after raids on their properties in Virajpet in Kodagu district for the last two days.

Rashmika and her father have been told to appear before its offices in Mysuru on Monday.

IT officials seized Rs 25 lakh unaccounted cash and documents related to illegal properties worth several crores. They also unearthed undeclared assets of Rs 3.94 crore. It was found during the raids that the actress had not paid taxes for Rs 1.5 crore, sources said.

Rashmika's family clarified that Rs 25 lakh cash, which the IT department said was illegal, was given for building Serenity Community Hall. They also said that they will submit all the documents to the IT Department.

The officials said they found two PAN cards in the name of Rashmika and for one of the cards, taxes have been paid only till 2016-17.

Officials collected details and verified property documents related to a bungalow belonging to Rashmika's father, Serenity Community Hall, a coffee estate, a newly acquired land for building an international residential school and land for a petrol bunk, sources said.

The IT officers carried away a suitcase, three handbags and one box full of documents after raids for 29 hours at Rashmika’s house, the sources said.
