CS hails speedy clearance of passport applications
Hyderabad: The regional passport officer (RPO) Hyderabad, Dasari Balaiah, had a brief interaction with the chief secretary, Santhi Kumari, at her office here on Thursday. He briefed her about the measures taken up by the passport office that helped them clear over six lakh applications last year.
Later, Balaiah said “It was a brief meeting. I told her that in 2022, our office issued 6.5 lakh passports, as against the 2021 figure of 4.42 lakh. She appreciated the initiatives taken by the RPO in expediting the process to clear applications after the lockdown restrictions were withdrawn.”
The regional passport office has taken up innovative measures to bring down the waiting time for getting a passport. Apart from establishing integrated public grievance redressal centres and emergency counters, the office also functioned on holidays. The citizen-friendly initiatives using sophisticated technologies have drawn wholesome appreciation.
