Five killed as car tyre bursts on NH in Bapatla dist

TIRUPATI: Five people died in a road accident on the National Highway under Medarametla police station limits in Bapatla district, early on Sunday. The deceased include the wife and daughter of the Addanki Town sub-inspector.

According to police, Addanki SI Shaik Samandar Vali had taken his wife Shaik Wahida Vali, daughter Shaik Ayesha Meera Vali and family friends Gurrala Jayashree and Gurrala Divya Teja for Maha Shivaratri festivities at Chinna Ganjam on Saturday while on duty at Chinna Ganjam Jatara.

The family members of the cop were travelling back home in his car after offering prayers, when the tyre of the car they were travelling in reportedly punctured, leading to a crash. The car flipped and fell onto the other side of the road and was hit by a lorry. All occupants of the vehicle died on the spot.

Police officials registered a case after investigating the accident spot and shifted the bodies of the deceased to Addanki government hospital.
