Riders turn up in big numbers at KTM’s RC Cup selections in Hyderabad
HYDERABAD: In a great opportunity for motorcycle racers and enthusiasts in Hyderabad, KTM comes to the city with its RC Cup Racing Championship 2023. The Day 1 of the selections was held at the Chicane Circuit in the city, where the Day 2 selections will also be held.
To encourage safety in racing, KTM has provided racing suits and RC 390 bikes to all those who have registered to participate in the selections. 10 best riders from Hyderabad, with the fastest lap times will go into round 2, which will be the Qualifiers for the Finale. The Finale will be held in Chennai.
All the riders who registered for the event were given a three-session theoretical crash course on racing and three sessions of track training by the KTM Racing team experts. Overseeing the training sessions was one the finest motorcycle racers of India, Emmanuel Jebaraj, a seven-time national champion.
Speaking at the event, Emmanuel Jebaraj said that the response for enrolling into the racing championship has been tremendous in Hyderabad. Stressing on the importance of safety on the track, Jebaraj said, “We are providing the bikes, we are providing the riding suits, but we asked the racers to get their own racing helmets and gloves because we want them to continue the habit off track too.”
Bajaj Auto’s Probiking Divisional Manager for South Region, Gautam Modi said “The word racing is known to all of us, since we were kids. We at KTM want to create an adrenaline around it. Our aim is to take the rider beyond his limits with our bikes, to perform more.”
Kamal Nayan, a KTM motorcycle owner and one of the participants, told Deccan Chronicle “I got to know about the selections happening in Hyderabad through the KTM website and I got elated after knowing I could participate in it as it was happening in my home town.” I would really like to appreciate KTM for their efforts to promote racing and adventure riding, he adds.
The Championship which started in January is spread over 8 cities, 250 races with over 1000 participants.
The winners of the race will get to interact with the KTM factory racing team and train under former MotoGP Racer Jeremy McWilliams in Austria. They will also get a chance to watch a MotoGPTM event live.
