Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metro Rail has put up the statistics on their video screens installed at stations stating that over 10.2 lakh km operations have been completed and they have been 99.2 per cent punctual.
The first 100 days has had 80 lakh passengers travel in the metro rail. The metro rail was started on November 28, 2017.
The video which is being shown at stations states that the train has completed 36,186 trips on the 30-km stretch from Nagole to Miyapur.
There are 18 trains which are operated back and forth on the routes every day. During peak hours, the trains are packed to the gills. With cycles being available at the major stations and cab facility also being set-up, the end-point connectivity is being looked into as well.
A senior officer of Hyderabad Metro Rail explained, “There will be more footfalls once the project is completed and the operation runs fully. But the facilities promised for end-to-end connectivity are a challenge. There is a need to meet those demands to ensure that people hop on to the metro rail because it is the best transport option in the city.”
With the state government sanctioning Rs 200 crore to the metro rail in the present budget, the officers state that these facilities will be developed soon.
The Old City work will also be started soon, stated the officials as the original alignment as planned will be taken up for the Metro Rail.
