VIJAYAWADA: National Minorities Commission adviser M. Arshad Ayub Khan has asked the state government to appoint minority welfare committees in the newly formed districts of Andhra Pradesh.

Arshad Ayub maintained that due to the lack of such committees, many welfare schemes of the central government for minority communities, including Prime Minister's 15-Point Programme, are not being implemented in all the districts of AP.

“People may lose the benefit of these schemes if these committees are not appointed quickly,” the adviser to the commission observed. He, however, said the secretary of the State Minority Welfare Department has written letters to collectors of all districts in this regard.

Arshad Ayub announced that National Minorities Commission will soon hold a review meeting with officials of minority welfare departments of all states on PM’s 15-Point Programme for minority welfare.

He said the priorities of the National Minorities Commission are education for all, employment, the welfare of minorities, and their security.
