CBI grills Avinash for 8 hours in Viveka case

HYDERABAD: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials on Wednesday grilled Kadapa MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy for about eight hours in connection with the murder case of his uncle and former minister Y. S. Vivekananda Reddy’s. He has been asked to appear before the CBI again on Thursday at 10am. As directed by the court, the CBI officials questioned Avinash Reddy under video surveillance until 6:40 p.m.

The CBI also questioned Avinash Reddy’s father Y.S. Bhaskar Reddy and another accused Uday Kumar Reddy for five hours. The CBI officials reportedly questioned Avinash Reddy, Uday Kumar Reddy and Bhaskar Reddy on the alleged cash transactions that reportedly occurred days before the murder of Vivekananda Reddy. The CBI arrested Bhaskar Reddy on April 16, while Uday Kumar Reddy was taken into custody on April 14 in Pulivendula, Kadapa district. Both were brought to Hyderabad and placed in judicial custody. The Central investigating agency would question them again on Thursday.

Bhaskar Reddy and Uday Kumar Reddy were taken into custody by the CBI officials from the Chanchalguda Central Prison at around 10.40 a.m. on Wednesday and later shifted to the CBI office. Avinash Reddy and his lawyers came to the Koti office at around 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
