HYDERABAD: A person who wrapped an ‘explosive’ around his abdomen and demanded money caused terror at the Adarsh Cooperative Urban Bank at Shapurnagar at about 5 pm on Friday. The accused, as Busa Shivaji, 32, said he would blow himself up if the bank staff did not give him Rs 2 lakh.

With bank staff and a few customers on tenterhooks, police engaged him in negotiations for about an hour. Later, he announced that the threat was a hoax.

Even after he was detained, he asked police to give him money or provide him a job. Shivaji was working as a crane operator but lost his job after he developed vision problems, Jeedimetla station house officer M. Pavan said.
