Farmers urged to go for third crop after kharif, rabi
The boards are being set up in Rythu Bharosa Kendra limits, aimed at creating demand for agriculture and horticulture crops in the market
KAKINADA: The East Godavari District Agriculture Advisory Board has taken a resolution that farmers should be encouraged to go for a third alternative crops like food grains and others, after kharif and rabi crops every year.
The board meeting was held here on Friday, presided by its chairman Moturu Sai. Agriculture minister K Kannababu, BC welfare minister Ch. Srinivasa Venugopalakrishna, Kakinada MP Vanga Gita and others were present.
The board convener and also the joint collector G Lakshmisha said the boards are being set up in Rythu Bharosa Kendra limits, aimed at creating demand for agriculture and horticulture crops in the market, formation of agro-climatic zones, supplying support packages, encouraging farmers to get gross and net profits in agriculture and horticulture operations, providing exporting facilities to the products and also food safety to the people and create awareness programmes among farmers on effective cultivation to get good yielding.
Kannababu said Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy formed the agriculture advisory boards to help farmers and facilitate cultivation of suitable crops. He said formation of the boards was a historical decision in the country. Srinivasa Venugopalakrishna said Jagan was striving hard for creating confidence on agriculture and horticulture cultivations by taking adventurous decisions.
Gita said though all sectors had collapsed due to covid-19 pandemic, agriculture and horticulture sectors saved the country. The board has resolved that the farmers should be discouraged to cultivate ‘Bondalu’ variety of paddy due to lack of demand in the market, and encouraged to cultivate Swarna, Samba Masuri, Srikakulam Sannalu and other varieties of paddy and only horticulture crops should be cultivated under borewells.
