VISAKHAPATNAM: Lok Sabha member from Visakhapatnam M.V.V. Satyanarayana disclosed that he has decided to shift his business activities to Hyderabad. He will confine himself only to politics in Visakhapatnam.

The MP, who is recovering from the shock he received following kidnap and harassment of his son Sarat, wife Jyoti and friend and auditor G. Venkateswara Rao, maintained that he has had enough of real estate and construction in Visakhapatnam, where he began small but has now grown into one of the biggest builders in the country.

“I will finish off seven or eight projects, which are midway and shift to Hyderabad, where the environment is more friendly and suits people like me,” Satyanarayana told this correspondent in Visakhapatnam on Sunday.

Asked for reasons, the MP said his wife, son and a close friend had been beaten up mercilessly. The opposition, instead of showing sympathy, began casting doubts on his integrity. He said a section of the media turned hostile and published stories stating it is not a kidnap but an old settlement.

Explaining his activities, Satyanarayana said land issues are tricky. On his part, he said he has always sought solutions through legal means without seeking any individual help.

“I have built scores of flats in Visakhapatnam. Children of owners, now settled abroad, still send me greetings and invitations for weddings,” he underlined.

The MP observed that the process of clearing files in Visakhapatnam is tricky. He said he sought permission to conduct a blast in a small area two months ago. But he has not yet got permission. Following publication of an advertisement seeking public objection in this matter, a newspaper put out a big story stating the city is being blasted for construction, causing inconvenience to public.

Satyanarayana said permissions for such activities in Hyderabad are given in a single day.

Meanwhile, scores of people have been pouring into the MP’s residence to express sympathy and support. They included Payakaraopeta MLA Golla Babu Rao, who came with his followers and spoke to the MP.

Babu Rao told media that it is a strange incident and Visakhapatnam is still a peaceful city. “There is no failure of law and order. Rather the police acted quickly and solve the issue within three hours,” Babu Rao said, appreciating the local police.
