Explosives seized at Narippatta

KOZHIKODE: Explosives were seized from Kammayimala, near Narippatta late on Sunday night by the police. As many as 1,175 electronic detonators, 34 rolls of 6-meter fuse wire and 58 rolls of 7-meter fuse wire were seized from an open area under the ownership of Kurinjiliyod Ibrahim Haji, said the police. The seized materials were stored in plastic sacks.

The police raided the area following a tip-off that explosive materials were being stored in open areas of the hilly region. In the last week, a large seizure of explosives including gelatin sticks was reported in the nearby area of Vilangad. These were stored near a quarry in Udumbirangi. Both the areas are suspected to have the presence of wild animals, said the police.
