Forensics expert gets pat for book on cyber crimes

Mr Basant said it would help the common man to understand the traps in the cyber world.

Kozhikode: A discussion session on the book ‘Mobilum Jailum’ on cybercrimes and investigation authored by eminent Cyber forensics expert Vinod Bhattathirippad was held here on Thursday. Delivering the keynote address, former High Court judge justice R. Basant said that the book helped investigators to use a scientific temperament in crime investigation. On the simplicity of the book, Mr Basant said it would help the common man to understand the traps in the cyber world.

He also said that the book which unveiled different kinds of crimes had an international role to play. Noted scholar MGS Narayanan said that in a world where women were more vulnerable, the book would help them to identify the traps and pitfalls of the cyber world. “In many cybercrimes, by the time the crime is tracked, the damage done would be beyond repair”, he added.

In his vote of thanks, Dr Bhattathirippad said that after the release of the book, he had been receiving regular phone calls from many readers. Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) additional director general Dr John Joseph and Dr P Bhaskaran Nair, former teacher at University of Lincoln, UK also spoke.
