KOZHIKODE: “Map My Home – Kannur is a programme to bring as many places as possible onto your fingertips so that we can do more things using the smart-phone in Kannur. Basically, make your smartphones smarter,” according to a communiqué issed by District collector Mir Mohammed Ali. Map My Home KNR is an initiative to make the Government and other public service establishments more accessible to the public.

As of now, 2913 Government institutions and establishments of Kannur are on Google Maps. “All of you can now locate, view, call, rate and review services offered in all these offices”, Mr Ali said. “Our motive is to help the public locate and call public service offices (Government Offices) without having to save the numbers on their phones. In addition to this, they will also be able to rate and review these offices, offering feedback that is permanent and public. This way, we will be able to get an opinion on qualitative matters like honesty, politeness, sensitivity of the employees at the offices”, he said.

The phone numbers entered are the official mobile numbers assigned to each office, or official landline numbers. So, wherever you are, whether in Kannur, out of Kannur, in Kerala or abroad, the entire Village Office phone-book is now available on your smartphone. Mr Ali said, “A huge round of applause to all officials of different departments of Kannur who did the mapping of their offices themselves with monitoring, coordination and training by Kerala State IT Mission District Project Manager, Midhun Krishna C.M. The mapping of all the offices was done over a period of three months between April and July with continuous review meetings every Wednesdays.
