FCI to Sell Wheat, Rice in Open Market on Aug. 23

VIJAYAWADA: Food Corporation of India (FCI) Vijayawada regional office general manager Chandra Shekhar Joshi said Government of India has decided to release FCI wheat and rice in open market under its Open Market Sale Scheme (Domestic) to stabilise retail prices of wheat / atta and rice throughout the country.

Consequently, 25 lakh metric tonnes of rice and 50 lakh metric tonnes of wheat will be offloaded in the open market throughout India.

Chandra Shekhar Joshi said FCI Amaravati is offering 5,000 metric tonnes of wheat and 13,200 metric tonnes of rice through e-auction to be held on Wednesday, August 23.

To participate in the e-auction, the EMD amount has to be credited through electronic mode in the favour of GM, FCI, Regional Office, Amaravati, before 6 p.m. of preceding Monday, that is August 21.

The FCI regional GM said under one PAN number, a buyer can bid only 100 metric tonnes of wheat throughout the country, provided the buyer has valid GST registration in that particular state and a valid FSSAI licence. Interested flour millers / atta chakki processors and manufacturers of wheat products may reach www.valuejunction.in/fci for registration and participation in e-auction.

With respect to rice, a buyer can bid for 1,000 metric tonnes. The reserve price for FRK (fortified rice kernels) rice is ₹2,973 per quintal and ₹2,900 per quintal for non-FRK rice.
