Telangana Guv Tamilisai seeks police report on assault on Tribal woman
Hyderabad: Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan on Friday called for a detailed report on the alleged assault on a Lambada woman, Vaditya Laxmi, by the police at the LB Nagar police station on Thursday. The Governor directed the Chief Secretary, the Director General of Police and the Rachakonda commissioner of police to file the report within 48 hours.
A communiqué from Raj Bhavan said that the Governor was deeply anguished upon learning about the incident. Dr Soundararajan directed the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Ranga Reddy district, to visit the victim's house and provide support immediately.
Meanwhile, B. Karthik Navayan, an advocate in the Telangana High Court on Friday lodged a complaint with the National Human Rights Commission on the torture of Laxmi.
Navayan urged the commission to remove the responsible police personnel from service, prosecute them according to the law, and also pay appropriate compensation to the victim.
