Bengaluru: Founded in the year 1981 as a primary school by Gangadhar and later developed as a high school in Basaveswara Nagar in 1991, Max Muller High School has a long history of impressive credentials. Fighting against high odds to maintain quality and reliability, the school is a shining example of perseverance and hard work.

Currently the school is thriving under the guidance of Suresh Kumar, the youngest son of Gangadhar. Suresh believes education cannot be complete without art. His school focuses on producing multi-talented future citizens, so most of the students excel in curricular and extra-curricular fields too.

According to Suresh, many of the school alumni are pursuing studies in highly renowned institutions of the city like M S Ramaia, RV Engineering college and Bangalore Medical College, to name a few. "These future doctors, teachers and engineers are the school's contribution to society. The school also has a few SSLC rank holders (8th and 9th rank in the year 1997) and can also proudly boast of a good result every year," he said.

Suresh believes that discipline and compassion should go hand-in-hand. The successful functioning of the school's scouts and guides division reiterates this. "We aim to produce not only academically successful individuals but also socially beneficial individuals, the school has taken up various initiatives. The management has taken all the necessary steps to extend financial assistance to needy and deserving students. In the modern world, where amidst electronic gadgets, education has lost its meaning, we are making efforts from our side to bring the charm back to the field of teaching,” he said.

With this in mind, the school celebrates all national festivals.  It may also be one of the few schools that conduct sports day and annual day every year.
For high school students utmost care and attention is given to those in Std X, not only to obtain good results but also ensure that they become good citizens.

Orientation classes by professionals are organised at the school especially for the tenth standard, to enable them to face the SSLC exam confidently. And these endeavors show in the results. Specially designed worksheets, portion papers, recreational picnics are an integral part of the curriculum.

"We understand that text book teaching can give only limited knowledge to children. Most of their learning happens through first-hand experience", says Mr. Suresh Kumar. "We also provide opportunities to the children to enter the world of competitive exams organized by NSTSE. CHRD, NTSE, SOF etc. Needless to say, all the children came out with flying colours", he adds.

"Scouts and Guides have become a rare phenomenon now in schools since most of the schools are focusing only on marks-oriented teaching. Training camps are organized exclusively for these kids at Doddabalapur every year. We were given special  merit for the highest number of participants", he says.

The school also has a strong volleyball, basketball and cricket team. In fact, the cricket team of the school comprises of the II division winners of the inter-school tournament by KSCA in the Under-16 category for the year 2016.
