NORKA centre to route investment
It is estimated that a major chunk of the NRK deposits of about Rs 1 lakh crore is remaining idle.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government has approved a project of NORKA Roots to set up a business facilitation centre and to engage the diaspora for investment in the state. It is meant to offer a single window facility for the prospective NRK investors as well as to make use of the experience of NRKs. Organising global NRK meets, business meetings for NRKs to make use of their experience and upgrading the business facilitation centre are the major components of the projects. The government has also sanctioned Rs 3.5 crore for the scheme.
The NORKA business facilitation centre would act as a single window facility for all the investment requirements of the NRKs and the returnees. It is also proposed to form a panel of experts in various domains to provide investment advice to NRK investors. It will also provide customised professional support, according to a government order. The business centre would promote NRK investments in Kerala, provide information about investment opportunities, establish a network of Keralites with expertise in various fields, assist investors, prepare project reports and other documentation for setting up business ventures in Kerala and offer financial and legal consultancy services with the help of consultants.
The scheme to ‘Engage Diaspora for Investment in the State’ is mainly aimed at providing a platform to learn from the achievements and experiences of NRKs. Lending an ear to the problems of the diaspora and conducting events projecting investment opportunities also form part of the scheme.
