Rs 1,000 torn notes dumped in Tiruchy

Tiruchy: Tension prevailed for a while at Cholarajapuram area in Tiruchy on Sunday, following some people noticing a large number of the banned Rs 1,000 notes cut into pieces and thrown into the corporation's dustbin.

According to eye witnesses, a woman sanitary worker of the Tiruchy corporation, who noticed the damaged currencies in the form of pieces, informed passers-by, who in turn collected the damaged currencies and showed it to others. A local resident said that after demonetisation, it was possible that one of the residents in that area might have dumped his unaccounted money in this fashion. On information, Woriyur police led by sub-inspector Selvam came to the spot and held inquiries with the local residents.
