BENGALURU: Indulging flyers, Colombo-based Soul Sounds Choir performed carols at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) on Monday evening. The award-winning female ensemble was performing as part of the ‘Season of Smiles’ festival organised by the Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), which will continue till December 31.

While former Indian Foreign Secretary Nirupama Menon Rao attended the festivities as the chief guest for the day, Bangalore Men, a 12-member all-male chorus team, also presented Christmas songs for the guests and passengers.

Stalls equipping passengers to send festive wishes to their acquaintances for free are the highlight at the terminal. The curated postcards by specially-abled students of the Mathru Free School for the Blind & Hearing Impaired Children help passengers make contributions towards purchase of Braille books for the visually impaired at the school. BIAL has decided to match these donations with an equal amount, making the festive season more special for many.

The Airport has been decorated with the theme ‘Winter Wonderland’ and offers customised food and numerous shopping offers to flyers. According to BIAL, as many as 75,000 passengers travel through the airport during this peak season of the year.
