BJP Leaders Seek Probe Into Alleged TDR Scam

Tirupati: BJP leaders have urged Governor S Abdul Nazeer to order an investigation into the alleged Transfer of Development Rights (TDR) scam in Tirupati.

In a representation submitted to the Governor here on Monday, BJP spokespersons Bhanu Prakash Reddy and Samanchi Srinivas said there was anb increase in TDR-related scams across the state. “Prompt action is required to safeguard public funds and ensure the integrity of the state’s development policies,” they said.

The BJP leaders said certain individuals and entities exploited loopholes in the TDR system to improperly obtain TDR bonds. “Officials of the TMC, in collusion with local politicians and the public, manipulated property values to obtain TDR Bonds at maximum value, resulting in the misappropriation of public funds worth crores,” they alleged.

The representation highlighted alleged malpractices involving the false categorization of residential and agricultural properties as ‘commercial properties’ to obtain inflated valuation certificates and secure TDR bonds at abnormal rates.

The BJP leaders identified alleged misconduct by P Amaratha Reddy, D Murali and others from the municipal corporation’s TDR committee.

“These individuals reportedly obtained TDR bonds even as they are not the property owners but having the power of attorney. This misuse of official capacity by TDR committee members resulted in losses to the government, affecting 373 beneficiaries,” the BJP leaders claimed.

Demanding prosecution of the errant, the BJP stressed the need for a comprehensive probe into the TDR malpractice across Tirupati and identification of their root causes. It urged the government to enforce regulations, implement projects in a  transparent manner and undertake necessary reforms to safeguard the state’s interests.
