High Court on PIL seeking probe in Medigadda

Congress leader G.Niranjan made a representation to the ECI, President of India, and the Governor seeking probe into the Medigadda Barrage

Hyderabad: The Division Bench of Telangana High Court comprising  Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Anil Kumar Jukanti directed  Terra Rajnikanth Reddy, Additional Advocate General representing the State Government to get instructions from the State Govt., whether any action has been taken on the complaint seeking a CBI/SFIO probe  into the Medigadda Barrage break, which is a part of the Kaleshwaram Irrigation Project within two weeks. 

 Congress leader G.Niranjan made a representation to the ECI, President of India, and the Governor of the State Government and the Union of India seeking a probe into the Medigadda Barrage. The Election Commission of India sent an e-mail to the Niranjan informing him that the complaint made by the petitioner to it has been sent to the Chief Secretary vide its letter dated 7-11-2023.  

Further, he filed a PIL before the High Court to direct the State Government to order of CBI/ SFIO probe in the issue.

On Tuesday, during the course of hearing, the Chief Justice Alok Aradhe posted a volley of questions on the counsel for the petitioner G. Niranjan, Senior Vice President and Chairman, Election Commission Coordinator Committee, TPCC as to under which provision of law, the petitioner made a complaint to the Election Commission of India, President of India, CBI and others, when the issue is regarding safety of a dam. Chief Justice Alok Aradhe questioned the petitioner as to how the Election Commission of India and CBI is related to this issue... the duty of the ECI is to conduct a free and fair elections... it has nothing to do with the safety of the dam, CJ observed. Further, CJ turning towards the counsel for the petitioner observed “ you are trying to give some other colour to this issue... this Court is not satisfied with the genuiness of the petitioner.. if some thing is wrong with the dam, you (petitioner) want the President of India of India to act upon this issue...” 

The court was not inclined to give regular number to the said PIL filed by Niranjan and adjourned by two weeks for instructions.
